  GETTING HERE

All flights to Black Gold Lodge (by float plane) originate from Port Hardy Airport, located on the northern end of Vancouver Island. Airfare is separate, but Black Gold will schedule this flight for you. Plan on checking in at that airport no later than 1:00 on the afternoon of your departure.

FLYING

Pacific Coastal Airlines offers daily scheduled flights between Vancouver to Port Hardy. Direct flights are also available from Renton, Washington. Black Gold can arrange these flights for you.

DRIVING

Vancouver Island is accessible from the mainland by three ferry routes:

If you dock at Nanaimo, go Northwest on TRANS CANADA 1 to PROVINCIAL HIGHWAY 19. Drive 349 km Northwest on HIGHWAY 19 to Port Hardy. Look for the airport sign just before entering the town.

If you dock at Victoria, go South on PROVINCIAL HIGHWAY 17 to TRANS CANADA 1. Drive 98 km Northwest on TRANS CANADA 1 to PROVINCIAL HIGHWAY 19. Then drive 349 km Northwest on HIGHWAY 19 to Port Hardy. Look for the airport sign just before entering the town.
